Privacy policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026
This policy explains how Disc Avenue handles personal information when you browse our store, place an order, create an account, subscribe to updates or contact us. We are based in Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia, and our store is hosted by Shopify.
We comply with Australian privacy and electronic marketing laws that apply to our activities, including the Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles where applicable, and the Spam Act 2003. Questions and requests can be sent to sales@discavenue.com.au.
1. Information we collect
- Contact and delivery details, including your name, email, phone number, billing address and delivery address.
- Order and account information, including purchased titles, order history, delivery instructions, transaction references, payment status, returns and refunds.
- Information you provide in enquiries, reviews or return requests, including correspondence and photos.
- Marketing preferences, subscription records and unsubscribe choices.
- Technical and browsing information, such as IP address, browser and device details, cookie identifiers, pages viewed, searches and shopping-cart activity.
Payment providers process the payment details needed for the method you select. We receive relevant transaction records and payment status. Do not send complete card numbers or security codes by email.
2. How and why we collect information
We collect information from you when you order, use an account, fill in a form or communicate with us. Website technologies collect technical information as you browse. Shopify, payment providers, carriers and marketplaces through which you purchase from us may provide information needed to process, deliver or support your order.
We use this information to operate the store, process payments, fulfil orders, arrange deliveries, manage accounts, respond to enquiries, handle returns, prevent fraud, improve the website, maintain business records and meet legal obligations. Where enabled and lawful, analytics and advertising services help us understand website use and measure promotions.
You can browse or make general enquiries without identifying yourself where practicable, although technical information may still be collected. We need sufficient information to fulfil an order or resolve an enquiry. Marketing consent is optional. If you provide another person's details for delivery, make sure you are authorised to do so.
3. Shopify and service providers
Shopify processes information to provide the website, checkout, customer accounts and related services. Some Shopify features also use interactions across merchants to provide or improve services and personalised experiences, subject to the services enabled and applicable privacy choices. See the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and Shopify Privacy Portal for its processing and controls.
We share relevant information with people and providers who need it to perform their work: authorised staff, payment processors, banks, delivery and shipping providers, hosting and email providers, business administration services, and analytics or marketing providers where used. Professional advisers and authorities may receive information where necessary or legally required. We limit sharing to the relevant purpose and do not sell or rent customer contact lists.
4. Cookies and marketing preferences
Cookies and similar technologies support the cart, sign-in, security, preferences and website measurement. Analytics or advertising technologies may record browsing events and identifiers where those services are enabled. Use your browser settings and any available store privacy controls to manage cookies; blocking essential cookies may affect checkout. We obtain consent where the law requires it. Simply visiting the site does not waive your privacy rights.
Promotional emails or messages are sent only with valid consent. A purchase or enquiry is not automatic consent. You can unsubscribe using the message's instructions or by emailing us. We will action the request within five working days, without a fee or a requirement to log in. Essential order, delivery, refund and security messages may continue.
5. Overseas processing, security and retention
Our global providers may process or store information outside Australia. Shopify identifies group recipients in Canada, the United States, Ireland and Singapore, among other locations. Its current recipients and processing locations are described in Shopify's subprocessor information. The locations involved depend on the services used. Contact us for information about a particular service.
We take the steps required by applicable Australian law when disclosing information overseas. Website use does not constitute a waiver of protections. We use reasonable safeguards to protect information and limit access to people who need it. No online system is completely secure, but this does not remove our responsibilities.
Records are retained for as long as needed to provide services, handle disputes and meet legal or recordkeeping obligations. When no longer required, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify them. Closing an account may not remove order, tax or other records we must retain.
6. Your requests and complaints
Email sales@discavenue.com.au to request access, correction or deletion of personal information, or to raise a privacy concern. We may reasonably verify your identity. We aim to respond within 30 days and will explain any delay, lawful refusal or information we must retain. Making a request or requesting a correction is free; any lawful access charge will be explained beforehand.
We investigate complaints and aim to provide a substantive response within 30 days. If you are dissatisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where it has jurisdiction. Electronic marketing concerns can also be raised with the Australian Communications and Media Authority.
7. Other websites, children and changes
IMDb, marketplaces, payment services and other linked websites have their own privacy practices. Please review them when following a link. This does not remove our responsibilities for information we disclose.
Our store is intended for a general retail audience. A parent or guardian can contact us about information a child has provided. If a data breach occurs, we will investigate and take appropriate steps, including notifications where legally required.
We update this policy when our practices or requirements change, show the revised date, and provide any additional notice or consent process required by law. You can ask for a copy or help accessing it.
