Refund policy

Last updated: 10 October 2026

We want you to enjoy your next great watch from Disc Avenue. This policy covers returns and refunds for our DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, TV series, box sets and other products.

1. Our 30-day return policy

Contact us within 30 days of receiving your order to request a change-of-mind return. Email sales@discavenue.com.au with your order number, the item you want to return and the reason. We will provide return instructions and the correct address. Send the item back promptly after receiving those instructions; a delay by us will not invalidate a request made on time.

For a change-of-mind return:

  • The item must be in the same condition as when you received it, without additional scratches, damage, alterations or missing parts.
  • Include every supplied disc, case, cover, insert and accessory. Box sets and multi-film packs must be returned complete.
  • Pre-owned items are eligible: they do not need to be in new condition, but their condition must not have deteriorated since delivery.
  • An item sold as new and factory sealed must remain unopened for a change-of-mind return.
  • Provide reasonable proof of purchase from Disc Avenue, such as an order confirmation or receipt.

If these conditions are met, we will refund the price paid for the returned item. You pay change-of-mind return postage. Original delivery charges are not refundable for change-of-mind returns unless we agree otherwise. Pack discs and cases securely; we recommend tracked postage.

Any special exclusion from change-of-mind returns must be clearly disclosed before purchase. A sale price alone does not remove return eligibility. These conditions apply to our voluntary change-of-mind offer, not to remedies required by law.

2. Faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed items

Please contact us if a disc will not play correctly, a supplied item is missing, the wrong title or edition arrives, or the item differs materially from its description. Include the title and order details. Photos and information about the playback issue or compatible player can help us assess the problem, but we will not make unreasonable evidence demands.

Australian Consumer Law guarantees can apply to pre-owned goods. What is reasonably acceptable takes account of the item's age, price, condition and description. A particular issue clearly disclosed before purchase may affect a claim about that issue; it does not remove rights relating to other undisclosed problems.

For a major failure, you can choose a refund or replacement, subject to the legal rules for rejecting goods, or keep the goods and seek compensation for their reduced value. For a problem that can be fixed, we will provide an appropriate remedy at no cost within a reasonable time. If we cannot or do not fix it within that time, further refund or replacement rights may apply. You can also claim compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss caused by a consumer guarantee failure.

The 30-day change-of-mind period does not limit your statutory rights. You do not need original packaging for a consumer guarantee claim. Used or discounted products can still qualify, and you may contact Disc Avenue directly rather than pursuing a manufacturer.

3. Return costs and assessment

We will provide instructions for assessing and returning a faulty or incorrectly supplied item. For a confirmed consumer guarantee failure, we will reimburse reasonable return postage you have paid; please keep the receipt. We cover reasonable delivery costs needed to correct our error or damage for which we are responsible, and refund original delivery charges where legally required. Valid statutory claims are not subject to restocking fees.

Customer-caused damage is assessed separately from a pre-existing defect. We will explain our decision if we find no fault for which we are responsible. Any assessment or transport charge must be lawful, disclosed with a reasonable estimate beforehand, and not imposed retrospectively.

4. Refunds and exchanges

After the return and any necessary assessment are complete and a refund is due, we will process it promptly within a reasonable time and let you know. We use the original payment method unless you agree otherwise; your payment provider may take additional time to display the credit. We will not require store credit instead of a monetary refund you are entitled to receive.

Replacements and voluntary exchanges depend on availability because many pre-owned titles are individual copies. We will explain the available options, any agreed price difference and any delivery costs before arranging a change-of-mind exchange. An unavailable replacement does not remove a refund entitlement.

If you disagree with a return decision, ask us to review it. You may also contact your state or territory consumer protection agency. Nothing in this policy excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Updates apply prospectively and do not remove rights arising from an earlier purchase.
